About Us

Zen Camera Studio is a small camera shop in Japan with one goal: to help more people around the world enjoy the look of film. We sell film cameras, vintage lenses for mirrorless bodies, and the tools and know-how for a film look on digital, each graded honestly and backed by a 30-day warranty.

Zen Camera Studio is an independent shop for pre-owned film and digital cameras and lenses, based in Japan. The shop is owned and run by Yu Iwamoto as a sole proprietorship, and is a licensed second-hand dealer under Japan's Antique Dealings Act (Saitama Prefectural Public Safety Commission, license No. 431010064323).

What we do

We buy used cameras and lenses in Japan, inspect and test every item by hand, and ship them from Japan to customers worldwide. Every product in this store is a single, individual item that we physically hold in stock. The photos on each product page show that exact item, not a stock image.

How we inspect

Canon AF35M opened on our workbench for inspection and servicing
A Canon AF35M opened on our workbench: front cover, top cover and ASA ring off, shutter and lens unit exposed. When a camera needs it, we go inside: clean the optics, free a stuck ring, and replace worn light seals, before it is tested and listed.

Each camera and lens is checked for function, optics and cosmetic condition before it is listed. The grade on the product page (NEW / TOP MINT / MINT / Near MINT / Excellent / As Is) describes the cosmetic condition, and any defect is written in the Remarks and shown in the photos. See Grading & Inspection for details.

Our track record

We have been selling cameras on eBay since 2024 as camera_yu1010_japan, with more than 1,100 feedback ratings and 100% positive feedback, and eBay Top Rated Seller status. You can read our buyers' comments on our eBay feedback profile.

Shipping, returns and warranty

Orders ship from Japan with tracking. Prices are in US dollars and shipping is calculated at checkout. For the United States and Canada, duties and import taxes are collected at checkout, with no extra charges on delivery. For other countries, import duties and taxes are not included and may be charged on delivery. See our Shipping Policy for details. Every item is covered by our 30-day functional warranty, and returns are handled as described in our Refund Policy.

Not affiliated with any manufacturer

Zen Camera Studio is an independent retailer of pre-owned equipment. We are not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Kyocera / Contax, Sigma, or any other manufacturer. Brand and model names are used only to describe the products we sell and belong to their respective owners. Manufacturer warranties do not apply to pre-owned items; our own 30-day functional warranty applies instead.
